So I’ve started to have a conflict. I’m applying to poly for next fall as a transfer and my intended major right now is anthropology and geography. I’m all set on track to graduate from cuesta with my aa-t, I’ve got my required and desired courses either done or to be completed by Spring 2017, and also along with finishing off all of my general eds by spring too, with a gpa of 3.17. However, over a little time I’ve become more and more intrigued but the Comparative Ethnic Studies major. Which in ways is similar to certain aspects of anthropology. I’ve also been lucky enough to know a graduate of the program up at the college and talked to them about it too. So I was thinking about changing at this moment and to add on top of it all, it looks like the Comparative Ethnic Studies major has a high admit rate for transfers. Which isn’t the point of it, but does look very nice. The drawback to all of this though is that if I change there’s no real feasible way for me to get the Anthro AA-t degree, because I would need to add two course to my courseload this coming semester. All of this would drop me off at the point of having required and desired courses either done or in progress for CES, ge’s done by SP17, and a 3.17 gpa. So is it worth changing? Because also if I do change and I don’t complete certain courses for anthropology to get the degree my admission to other schools would then be in trouble. Despite that Poly is my number one choice. Any input is welcome.
