Since my application in October and my acceptance with Chemical Engineering intent, I've been looking at other types of engineering, and BME has stood out as one of my top choices.

First off, is it possible to change your major before you even begin classes?

Now more in-depth. I see that the BME program at Georgia Tech collaborates with Emory Medical School, but to what extent? Does that really even matter that much except to offer more research opportunities? I also see there is some sort of program that involves taking classes at both Emory and Georgia Tech; is that only open to Emory students?

I've seen threads telling potential BME majors to stick with mechanical/electrical engineering and then go to grad school to focus on the biomedical aspects of those fields. I've thought about job satisfaction, and think designing something that would improve the quality of someone's life rather than designing a chemical reactor would be more worthwhile. I'm not planning on going to med school or anything, I'd rather work in the industry or get an advanced degree. Or something. I'm only 17, damn it.

Anyway, any replies are appreciated.
