Changing Majors with a low GPA

Well I tried pre-engineering for my first quarter of freshman year and didn't like it. I am going to change to economics but in order to get into the economics department I need a average GPA of about a 3.45 (although 81% that apply get admitted) at my school. Taking General Chem 1 really lowered my GPA and I was wondering if that will be a problem for me in the future.

Thanks.

It would probably help if you said what your actual GPA was…

I don’t have a GPA yet since this is my first quarter but around a 2.0 in Chem. About 2.3 in Calc II and about a 3.8 in Psych are my guesses. Chem has really been a pain because I spend so much time on it and I don’t get the grade I want and it’s affecting my performance in my other two classes.
