Hello all, I applied early decision and applied as a manufacturing engineering major. I didn’t know manufacturing engineering was more business oriented than engineering. I wanted to know how hard it is to transfer to a major like electrical engineering or general engineering? I had a 3.98 GPA and a 32 on the ACT (Don’t know if this matters).
Isn’t it harder for manufacturing engineering to switch though? Compared to majors like electrical and general engineering
In general it’s thought to be easier to switch out of a very difficult admit like ME, CS and Aero, because students that got in had strong records and that can be part of your change assessment. The bottom line is that the major isn’t what you thought it was. Now all you can do is follow the process linked by @iulianc and hope for the best. The good news is you’ll know more about each field before you have to choose. Good luck.
@eyemgh would they look at my original application too? (My MCA score is 4700). I think it’s unfair to judge by major if I had high stats
My understanding, and this could be way off, is that it hey can consider your MCA. Your major won’t hurt you per se. It’s just that the typical manufacturing MCA is lower than say EE. Yours isn’t, so you’ll likely be fine.
