Changing majors within colleges

I've just been wondering how easy or hard it is to change majors within a college, specifically the College of Engineering. Does anyone know?

If you are already in engineering, then transfering between majors is not difficult. You go through your advisor and the department into which you will be transfering needs to approve it and each has its own minimum college GPA required at time of transfer -- most inter-departmental transfers take place after freshman or sophomore year. Those minimums needed are usually significantly less than what is needed to transfer into engineering from one of the other colleges. The department into which you transfer needs to have an "opening" for such transfer but that is usually not a problem (by end of freshman and then again by end of sophomore year, many seats become open because of students leaving engineering).
