I am a high school senior applying to UIUC for fall 2015. I applied for Mechanical engineering but now I wish to pursue Civil Engineering. What should I do? Should I change my major in my freshman year ? Is it easy to do so since Civil Engineering at UIUC is very high ranked?
Thanks for ur comments
If you are admitted to Mechanical Engineering, you won’t be able to do an intra-college transfer until at least Spring semester. Intra-college transfers are much easier to do, IF there are seats available. Since you’ll be taking the same math and science courses as the other engineering programs, your transfer is likely no problem, but a transfer is never guaranteed. You’ll need good grades from your first semester too, or your odds of transfer will decrease. Always remember that you’re in competition with others for a limited number of available seats. This goes double for transfers. Good luck.
That was the best answer I have ever got. @Balthezar
Transferring in to Civil Engineering should not be that difficult.
