I was just accepted into UIUC into Chemical Engineering. However, I want to change my major to ECE. I submitted the program change form today (post-acceptance). I did not yet accept the offer. Will my ability to accept the offer be revoked and I won't be able to again until the regular admission deadline?

Or alternatively, would I be able to just stay in ChemEng and take all the same classes as an ECE would? Then change sophomore year? Will this pose an issues since ChemEng is LAS? (i.e James Scholar status, I meet the requirments for ECE James Scholar)

So I guess the final question is: can I take the same classes that an ECE would take freshman year while under ChemE? Am I not required to take certain courses freshman year that are unnecessary for ECE (such as Chem 202)

I would suggest that you not submit that program change form, and get it back if you have. What that actually does is (a) declare that you are rejecting your admisison to Chem Eng, and (b) requesting to be considered regular admisison for another major. In other words, you have just rejected the admission you were given and put yourself into the regular admission pool and now face the likelihood of complete rejection if the other major does not take you. See [U of I Admissions: Admitted FAQ](Page Not Found, Illinois Undergraduate Admissions)

If you really want to change majors while keeping the admisison you already have, you have to wait until end of freshman year.

I just accepted the offer under ChemE, and sent an email to admissions for safe measures.

Does anybody know if I can take ECE 110 and NOT take Chem 202 and ChBE 121 freshman year as a ChemE? Do they or do they not have course requirements by year?
