If I wanted to change while attending, I know that I would have to consult an adviser (i.e. set up an appointment).

However, if I wanted to change my major before I even attended the university, what would be the simplest way to do so?

Likewise, would it cost anything?

It would (I hope) not be a flip-flop issue either-- just a one-time deal.

Thanks!

It wouldn’t cost anything to switch your major, at any point, but you would need to talk to an advisor. It may not be worth switching just yet if the major you already declared is related to the one you want to switch to. For instance, switching from one business major to another, or switching from one engineering major to another, doesn’t need to be done right away, and probably should’t be done until you are sure that you want to make the switch, which may not be until after you have taken classes.

If you want to switch to an unrelated major, especially one not in the same ‘college’ (OSU has a college of arts and sciences, a college of engineering, a college of business, etc.), then you may want to talk to an advisor in your new major before you schedule classes. You can find the information for advisors on the websites for the different majors.
