Is it really as notorious as they say? I’ve been having doubts if I should have applied as an English major. I heard majoring in English is very time-consuming and difficult. I’ve been wanting to switch to economics. Is it impossible to change?

Same here. I've been considering switching from com eng to comp sci...I got in, so I'm wondering how hard it'll be to switch before the year starts.

Its hard to switch outside of your general major. For instance, it would be hard to switch from english to economics. It may be a little simpler to switch from comp eng. to comp sci.

Would it be hard to switch from Liberal Studies to English?

i really doubt you guys can change before the year begins.. i havent heard of anyone doing that. there are quite a few prerequisites that need to be fulfilled before you're allowed to transfer into a particular major.

this may help: http://www.academicprograms.calpoly.edu/academicpolicies/Policies-Undergrad/Change-major.htm

Would it make any difference that I put Comp Sci as my alternate major when I applied?

i don't believe so. if you got into comp engr, then thats pretty much independent of your 2nd choice. however, if you do choose to transfer, many of the classes could (and probably would) overlap, so the transfer process is much easier since there are limits on how many units of classes you can take outside of your declared major.
