I was accepted to Stanford SCEA, and have applied to Harvard, Dartmouth, and Yale.

I'm currently in a French III class, which is ordinarily a year-long class. The class is really super easy and most of the other students aren't motivated at all. Yesterday the AP French Lit teacher came up to me and said that she had been talking to my French teacher and that she thought I should switch into the AP French Lit class. The semester ends this week, with the new semester starting after MLK Day.

Ordinarily, I would try to switch into French IV or AP French Language, but I go to a small school and these classes aren't offered at a time when I can take them. The AP French Lit teacher said that I could take the class pass/fail since I have 2 fewer years of French than other students in the AP Lit class, and that I wouldn't be expected to take the AP exam since I only would have taken the class for 1 semester.

My question is: if I notify the schools I'm applying to about this change, do you think it will be a red flag (taking the class pass/fail)? Is switching classes a really bad idea?

I'm planning on emailing/calling the Stanford admissions office to ask permission, but I wanted to get advice/opinions.
