I was accepted as a potential Trustee scholar as the Undecided major in CLAS. How hard is it to pursue a major in a different school (Annenberg, Marshall, etc.) or a double major between schools? If I decide, after a semester or so, that I want to switch schools/majors, how does that process happen? Any info will help!

My D was accepted at USC as a transfer student in sociology. She switched to undeclared. She then switched to a new major in CLAS. She has now just been accepted after multiple applications to cinema. Switching (especially from undecided) is definitely something that you can do but will require you to work with the counselor.

Sometimes funds are distributed by the individual majors/schools and some may not transfer if you switch fields. That was the case for a friend’s D who was accepted as a biomed engineering student. She had to stick with the major to keep all her merit & FAid. One of S’s merit awards was from Viterbi and I’m sure it would not have followed him if he switched out of engineering. Another friend’s kid was able to switch from engineering to psychology & keep all his merit & FAid, so it varies. This is definitely something to discuss with the advisor in choosing your school/major.
