Changing UCs after SIR has been submitted this late

Is it possible to change UCs at this point? I gained admission to UCI, UCSB, UCSD. I choose UCSB because they gave me the best grant and it was away from home. It was the 2nd cheapest option. I didn't really want to go to UCI because its in my hometown and I didn't want to do anything in my hometown because I'm not too fond of it. I received my award letter today due to the fact that my award letter had been sent to the new university email one that I did not know how to access until today. The grant that UCSB originally said that they would give me in the Unofficial Award is no longer there. So you can imagine why I would no longer really want to go here anymore if that was the deciding factor.

Is there any possible way to some how go to UCI or UCSD now this late in the summer over a month after the SIR deadline?

I'd honestly just like to go to UCI I dont want to pull out anymore loans.

I highly doubt they would allow anything come to think of it. They’d need my transcripts in the next week.

So you’re not getting anything from UCSB now? I still haven’t received my official award letter, so don’t lose hope!

The admissions folks at Irvine or SD probably have better information than you’ll get from the forum. Try giving them a call.

SD is out. UCI said they can submit it late but looking at the circumstances for granting late SIRs it’s not looking so good.

If you have a copy of the unofficial award and the official award it might help to send that in along with your request to Irvine. They should understand why the loss of a grant that you had been led to expect could change your decision.

Also since you say UCI is in your hometown I suggest you go visit in person if there’s someone you can make an appt with (going in and talking to the person behind the counter is not going to be that effective IMHO). Bring that documentation with you. Seeing a real live person in front of them makes it a bit harder to dismiss a request the way you can with just a submitted form.
