Chapman Class of 2018 EA

MovieScriptMom & son…my daughter, a freshman is a digital arts major at Chapman and her roommate is in film production. Her new family at Chapman are all Dodge students. A couple weeks ago she had dinner at the presidents dining hall with John Knoll, he is an Oscar winner for Pirates of the Caribbean for special effects. He also worked on Star Wars, Avitar and many other popular films. Two days later she went to Walt Disney Studios and had her portfolio reviewed by Disney animators. The work coming out from Dodge Freshman students is mind blowing good. I sent a copy of a freshman project to a friend in the business and he said for freshmen it is very impressive, especially the camera work (my daughters roommate was the cinematographer). My daughter applied to USC but her heart was for Chapman. I was worried that since Chapman is new it’s not connected to the industry. I was wrong, in fact recently I was sitting in jury duty the juror next to me was a UCLA screenwriting professor and she spoke very highly of Chapman. Then randomly I ran into President Doti at the grocery store and he told me the Dodge students are the cream of the crop. Bottom line: The students are very close to one another and work very well at teamwork, and the UCLA professor said it’s not that way at the <cough cough="">the other $chools. Also big bonus is that Dodge students aren’t required to have 2 years of GE before they get into their majors. I wish your son good luck. Check financial aid section in webadvisor. On the morning my daughter got her acceptsnce packet, she got her financial award letter posted. Sometimes it’s there or they may have figured it out and stopped doing it.</cough>

Lots of Twitter activity suddenly - people are actually receiving their packets today!

I am waiting by the mailbox for a decision! My S applied to the Chapman Theatre program. According to the Chapman Twitter, it seems that denial letters were emailed and acceptance letters were mailed through the postal service. But I am not sure. The exact post, in response to a question about whether denial decisions were emailed states:

“Early Action admission decisions were emailed and mailed out of our office today depending on your status and location.”

Also, they did state that overseas students would receive their acceptance decisions via email.

So, I just watch and wait and hope for the best for my kid!!! I hope everyone on this board gets into Chapman - it seems like the perfect place for the creative minds. I wish I could give all of you hugs!!! Let me know if you get a decision and thank you for all of the information and posts.

Got my acceptance today with a Presidential Scholarship!
32 ACT
8 APs
3.97 UW, 4.78 W

Good luck to everyone!!

I mailed a letter to California today and USPS said it would get there Monday. I hope the same is true of mail coming from California!

Regarding emails from the Admissions office, what I can gather from today’s Twitter is that rejections were emailed, unless the email address was bad, in which case they sent a letter via snail mail. The office advised to check that the email address given in the common app is accurate before assuming anything.

CONGRATULATIONS, Base26!!! What is your major and where are you currently located?

Thank you bigmamabear!
Major: Business Administration
I’m located within 30 minutes from the campus, which is why I got it so quickly! (:

Congrats Base26!!! Way to go! We live on the other side of the country - so hopefully we will get word before Christmas!

BigMommaBear - I think you and I translated the Twitter messages the same way!!! So much tea leaf reading here!!! Thank you for your insight and the information that you post! My S really wants to go to Chapman - so I really want it to work out for him!!!

Good Luck to all!!

Base26, is there any information or areas in webadvisor that you now have access to that you didn’t before today?

gardeninggirl - you’re welcome! Been there, done that, AND STILL doing it!!! Chapman is doing it quite a bit differently this year. Btw, I figure USPS picked up the letters at about noon Thursday, which means that they could potentially get to the east coast by tomorrow. Wishful thinking, what?!! :)

I got my acceptance to a BFA in Film Production in the mail today! I don’t know how that’s possible because they insisted that Film Production applicants wouldn’t know until mid-January…

Not that I can see… It still says “Decision Reached”, and I can’t find any sign of acceptance anywhere. I believe everything is the same as before.

Congrats Veritasrmc! A win is a win - who cares if it is early!!! Good for you!

I just got my acceptance into dodge yesterday! Since I am an international applicant, it came by email.

Congratulations, Maxi3licious! Is Chapman your top choice?

Congrats MoshandCrowd and Maxi3! My S is anxiously awaiting the poor postman to show up. Poor guy - he probably gets frightened when he pulls up to our house since we are always waiting.

Bigmamabear - how do we moms get through this. This is so hard - I can’t get anything done until I hear from the school. Any pointers on coping through the craziness will be appreciated!!!

Gardeninggirl - Lol, I am in the same bad shape you are! All I can say is take a deep breath and just force yourself to keep busy until the mail man comes! :)
