Guys I applied to Dodge for advertising. I am just kind of worried that Chapman never asked for financial aid docs.

My app says complete and I got a thing in the mail that says I turned in everything they need for admitting me. But I never turned in anything for financial aid (parent tax transcripts, etc). I just turned in the FAFSA I think. Why are they not asking for the other stuff?

And do they want mid term report? They never asked me.

Hi that1guyy,

How to apply for Financial Aid at Chapman University:

Step One: Apply for admission to Chapman University. Once you have been officially admitted, you can then be awarded financial aid.

Step Two: Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). All students looking to receive aid must fill out this form. The FAFSA is available January 1st and must be postmarked or submitted online by March 2nd to meet Chapman University’s priority deadline. (Chapman University’s federal school code is 00116400.)

Step Three: If you are a new student applying for a Cal Grant, you must also have your GPA Verification sent by your High School or College to the California Student Aid Commission by March 2nd.

That is all there is to it! Keep checking your mail and complete any and all information requests the Financial Aid Office mails you.

Hi again that1guyy,

I assume you are checking your Chapman WebAdvisor account. If not contact the admissions office to learn how to do this at (714) 997-6711. You can also ask them when the Dodge acceptances for transfer students are normally sent out. I know there are very few spots available at Dodge; after May 1 they will know the number of student that have committed to Dodge and how many spots are still available.

Parents do not need to submit tax transcripts unless a student is unhappy with their initial financial aid package that is sent to them (officially admitted students). If they wanted your midterm grade report they will ask you for it; it is not normal to have to submit midterm grades.

I hope this helps.

So I got a Decision Reached a day ago and was planning to stake out the mailman, but then I got this e-mail:

"If you are curious to see how other students from the Northeast have assimilated into Chapman, join us for a special Q&A Google Hangout Thursday, April 18th from 5-6 p.m. EST to chat with us!

A panel of current students from the Northeast will be available to answer questions specifically for newly accepted students. As these questions will be answered by your future classmates, we want to keep these topics related to student life, academic experiences, etc."

… So I guess I will take this as a backdoor acceptance letter. Unless Chapman is just cruel.

@sukahjoy

Thanks for the detailed help! I contacted an admissions officer and she was very helpful. And now I wait for the mail…

@hopethisworks33 I just thought I’d let you know that I asked my other school if they could extend the deadline beyond May 1st and they said that it wouldn’t be a problem. They said deadline is more for freshman and transfers have more time.

I got my acceptance letter today - and I was awarded a Chapman Trustees Scholarship. That was awesome. I’m not sure it’s enough to offset the huge price tag, though. I’ve got a few days before I have to pull the trigger on the enrollment deposit, so my fiancee and I will mull over the offer. Still, good news.

I applied for Film Production Major and received an email requesting an interview via Skype. Did anyone get anything similar?

@RandomNewGuy Why make a decision so quick? Isn’t the deadline to commit June 1st?

The packet said May 1st, I just looked online to discover that’s for incoming Freshmen. So, yeah, I have some time.

@RandomNewGuy I’m sure you have said this in the past, but, what’s your major? I noticed you applied to Chapman and CSUF in the USC thread because I have been stalking both eagerly waiting a break for decisions haha. My top three schools are USC, Chapman, and CSUF too Just wondering if we are on similar paths! I still haven’t heard a peep from Chapman so I’m just full of nerves!

@melraecan Lol Chapman is my number one as of right now and then CSUF! But ultimately waiting on USC, my dream school haha what school within sc did you apply too?

@alaintran9

So you have heard from Chapman too?
Darn I’m going nuts over here having not heard from either Chapman or USC.

So for CSUF I applied originally as a single major in Radio-TV-Film, but then changed it with the counselor to double with R-T-F and Journalism with an emphasis in broadcast. This is ideally the plan if both USC and Chapman don’t want me :(

Chapman I applied to Dodge College as a Television and Broadcast Journalism major…but still have no clue whether I am in or not.

And USC, I applied to Annenberg as a Broadcast and Digital Journalism major (first choice) and Print and Digital Journalism (second choice)…but obviously have not heard anything either haha

I cannot decide which is my first choice…USC or Chapman. I’ve visited both, and they are both outstanding in their own unique ways…I would truly be happy with either!

I feel like that was overly thorough…what about you @alaintran9? What did you apply to for your top 3 schools which we happen to share? :)

@melraecan

I applied to Chapman and got into Argyros School of Business for Business Admin and Accounting. Same as well for CSUF.
Still praying for USC and hopefully we both hear some good news soon!

@melraecan I applied to Chapman, CSUF and USC as a Journalism major, but emphasis on Print and Digital (although at Chapman, print Journalism is folded into the English department). Pretty similar paths. I wanted something I could parlay into a social media, digital content production or community relations-type job for a media entity if the economic environment for straight news people remains abominable. Don’t see myself as a broadcast guy. I have a face for radio and a voice for Tumblr.

My status changed to decision reached on Wednesday. I live in California, any idea when the letter will come?

I got mine around 6 days later!!

That seems so far from now!

But once it arrives it’s such a great feeling and accomplishment! Lol

I got mine about a week after it was reached, but I live in Maryland. So I would check the mailbox tomorrow and Monday.
