@ uci, i will be a theatre major with a minor in either film studies or history...

i'm a transfer student, completed my GEs for Fall 09.
i live 10 minutes from chapman and 20 minute from UCI.
regardless, i think i'm moving out.

i like chapman because of its small class size, the school is absolutely gorgeous, they have communications as a major.
but it is REALLY small.....

uci... i like because i will be a theatre major (i missed the audition date for chapman) but they do not have communications AT ALL. alto of my friends + the bf goes there. the city of irvine is gorgeous as it is. theres more of a social life on campus, at least with the greek system. but it is also SUPEEEEEEER huge, like 20000 kids? which means more students per class, its a public (i prefer privates)

ideally, i would love to be a communications major& a theatre major but i can't. theres UCSD too, but i'm a bit hesitant on that school because its so far and i don't know anything out there.

which school is better known? better prestige? i know both schools are mediocore and don't have a reputation like UCLA, but thats not what i'm looking for. i do plan on going to grad school as well....

It’s one of the easiest of the UCs to get into. Chapman has programs that are very selective, such as film and music. Anyone can major in music or film at UCI.

I have a friend who is deciding between music at UC Berkeley and Chapman and Berkeley is losing in the comparison.

does anyone around here look at facts before they start writing…?

UC system just released those numbers…they have been in the news for the past 48 hrs. Davis’s admit rate went from 52% down to 46%, and Irvine’s admit rate is now down to 42%. That means that both schools, along with Cal, UCLA, San Diego and Santa Barbara admit less than half the students that apply. Riverside, Merced and SCruz are still over 50% admit rate, though Santa Cruz experienced a large reduction in percentage of admits also.

It’s becoming a pretty big deal to get into most any of the UC schools.

UCSD is probably the best option out of the 3. Its 5 minutes from the beach, everything is around campus unlike UCI or Chapman, and the school has a much more prestigious name. But, if you still dont go for UCSD, then UCI is a really solid 2nd option. Chapman is really small and I didnt really like the school whereas Irvine, in my opinion, was terrific.

UC Davis the easiest to get into, LadyZ?? Ever heard of UC Riverside, UC Merced, and UC Santa Cruz?

Anyway, Clarabella, if you’re worried about huge class sizes and big campus-avoid UCSD! Hm, UCI as well. Go for Chapman; it may seem a bit small right now, but you’ll appreciate that once youre there! Good luck!
