Hello everyone, Does anyone know where u can find apartments/ houses that include 2-4 rooms ( each person has there own room) 2 baths (2 people per bathroom) at a cheap price between 300-600 dollars..Really appreciate it thanks....

Each person having their own room for that price? Not likely, and not close to campus would be my guess, but umcp11 or others may have some ideas… cheap and near a college campus usually doesn’t fit well within any sentence, but it’s especially the case in College Park, or it would be in a really sketchy area.

Do you mean 300-600 per room? The high end of that is definitely doable if you rent a house with a group of friends. You will not find apartments anywhere near that price (they are closer to 800-900 per room, though perhaps you might find some slightly sketchy apartments for a bit cheaper in the Adelphi area). You will not find 300-400 in rent ANYWHERE unless you are willing to split a room with someone (splitting a room in Parkside apartments comes out to 400 and splitting a room in a group house can be slightly cheaper). Most houses will be between 4-6 bedrooms. You probably will not find a house with only 3, and 5 is the most common number.

Check UMD Off-Campusing Housing 101 - just do a google search, I don’t know the address offhand.

You’ll find that houses in the “Metzerott” neighborhood are quite affordable and close to the back end of campus (UMD shuttles also service the area). Houses on 34th/35th/36th/37th etc. Avenues should be located in the area. Houses there will run anywhere from the upper 400s to upper 600s per room. The area is nothing special to look at and the walk is quite far from downtown CP/metro/etc, but it is one of the safer areas of College Park, is within walking distance to Comcast center, Courtyards apartments, and is heavily student-populated.

You will probably need to sign a lease for the full house, and won’t be able to rent room by room. So hopefully you already have a group in mind. In some VERY select cases landlords will rent by room.

Other areas to check out are the Lakeland area (streets around Lakeland Rd, Parkside Apartments, etc.), and the Berwyn Area (around Berwyn Road in North College Park). Those two tend to be less safe than Metzerott but around the same price and closer to the front end of campus (The “M”) and shopping plazas. Lakeland I particularly avoided…houses there get broken into quite frequently…I would go with Berwyn over that, though the two tend to overlap a bit (Berwyn House Road is kinda on the Lakeland/Berwyn fringe).

If you’re willing to venture about 1 mile or more North of campus, again you’ll find housing for the same price though chances are you’ll find something nicer. Anything near 193, Apache Street, Cherokee Street, etc. is still close to campus if you bike or drive and you’ll definitely get more bang for your buck the further you go North.
