I think its not even worth taking a plane from there to NYC... unless ur the son of an owner of a business who owns a private jet then maybe..

like unless u were from like IN, OH, VA or whatever then maybe an airline is an ideal way of transportation..

Take the Shortline bus from Port Authority Station. You can get from Port Authority by taking the subway from Queens/Manhattan.

I think its about $50 one way (cheaper if you show student ID). It would drop you off in front of CTB and the performing arts center.

what's the cheapest/easiest route for someone who is not a student?

I still think the easiest route is to take Shortline. Its a direct bus ride, with no transfers and such.

Dont consider taking a plane if youre looking for cheapness. Theres only two airlines that fly into Ithaca airport (Delta and US airways i think...) and they are definitely not under $50. If you try and fly in to Syracuse, the shuttle to take you to Cornell is $65 one way.

the two airlines to fly to Ithaca are NWA and USAir

What about to Syracuse?
Cheapest bus to Ithaca and back?

Depends on when you want to go. Normally tickets would be maybe $30 to Syracuse and back, but during holidays I bet they go cheaper. Check shortline.com or something.

I just purchased a round trip for my daughter on the Swarthout Coaches to NJ. It's $75 round trip has the most direct route to NJ. The bus then continues to NYC and LI. But it only runs during college breaks. Shortline Bus is the best during other time. Campus to Campus is the most expensive, but is the nicest. My daughter can rough it

wait lianri, I haven't heard a 30 bucks round trip to Syracuse before, there's is 100 bucks round trip to Syracuse from Ithaca Airline Limos. And I checked shortline's site and they don't offer shuttle to Syracuse.

I was just estimating. Last year I traveled from Ithaca to Albany and back, via Syracuse, for $100. Ithaca -> Syracuse is a much shorter trip than Syracuse -> Albany...I was just guessing shrugs.
