Cheapest place to stay for 7 days in manhattan?

<p>I was offered a conditional guarantee of housing and to make a long story short, I can't enter my allocated temporary housing until September 2 (which is 1 day before school starts). As an intl. student I planned on entering by Welcome Week (august 25) and all my tickets have already been purchased ...</p>

<p>I was wondering where are the cheapest hotels/motels around the NYU area? I am not looking for a 5-star hotel - just looking for a temporary place to stay for 7 days and buy supplies for school etc.</p>

<p>I am a Time Share Owner and I rent my time share (not in NYC) so I know of some places and sites you can look into. The Manhattan Club and The Hilton Club will have weekly timeshare rentals. You can rent from an owner using some of these sites: Redweek.com, For Rent By Owner or Homeaway. I usually rent On Redweek. The fee will be inclusive of taxes (hotel tax can be a killer) and they may have units with kitchens so you do not need to go out for every meal. There are some others-Affinia and The Beekman Hotel. You will not get good rates if you work with the hotel-renting from the owner is key. good luck.</p>

<p>Ack. I’ve heard terrible, terrible things about renting short-term apartments through such agencies. Maybe everything the above poster says is great, but be very, very careful.</p>

<p>If you go to the NYU International Student site it gives you a list of hostels near campus that they recommend.
It is on the right hand side.</p>
