Hey guys,

I'm visiting NYC from Jan 4th-Jan 13th to visit firms and am looking for a place to stay. Are any of the dorms open for rent during winter break? Or are there like guest rooms anywhere? If not...does anyone have recommendations for the best place for a student near the city? Much thanks!

Student residences are not available to rent over the winter like they are over the summer. Students sign an agreement for September-May and do not have to move out over the holiday period. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to get NYU housing that week.

I’m afraid you’ll have to foot the (much higher) bill for a hotel. If you’re making one of the networking trips a lot of students looking to break into Wall Street do, make sure you stay in the city. Don’t do Jersey and try to commute in. Again, it’s unfortunate timing, but you’re going to face higher rates given the time of year you’re making the trip.

thanks for the heads up hellodocks. Yea it’s actually a program organized by our school for a series of networking visits, however they are not providing housing or transportation. I guess I’ll just have to look for one of the cheaper hotels/motels.

Get on it asap, rates will only rise from here on out. Good luck.
