What is the cheapest coach bus round trip from nyc to cornell? Budget is about 30 bucks give or take.

I’ve heard Megabus is that cheap or cheaper but I can’t say much more. Apparently you have to be really careful about scheduling and catching buses.

I personally use Shortline, but that’s about $91 round trip.

When do you guys have time to go to NYC? For weekend trips? Don’t you have to study?

You could always give zimride a try.

try carpooling with someone and offer to pay for gas or something. you wont get a bus for 30 bucks

no most of us don’t, weekends are only busy during finals week with respect to studying

I live in New York and go back during certain breaks. I generally don’t leave the campus/city otherwise, but there are people with the means to go away from Ithaca on the weekends.

Also, academics won’t be consuming your life; and if it is, then something is wrong.

how much is megabus?

^^
Oh, wow, really? How many hours do you study per week in addition to time spent in class?

^It depends on the person, what school you’re in, study habits, other activities, etc.

As for engineering, you’ll find students who don’t stop studying and others who spend minimal time studying. I personally study 1-2 hours per day during the weekdays and 2-3 hours during the weekends as that’s all I have time for. You’ll probably find a schedule that works for you after your first few weeks of classes/prelims.

^
What do you spend the rest of your time on?

so how much does megabus or zimride cost?

As far as I’m aware, Megabus doesn’t stop in Ithaca (it looks like they go to Binghamton from NYC, but that’s still a 40 minute drive away, and you’d have to figure out how to get there). But that’s from $5-45 one way, depending how early you book and how many other people have bought tickets (I’d say the average is usually closer to $15). Zimride is a ride-sharing/carpooling service; prices depend on what the driver asks for/is willing to accept - you can look into that here: [Ridesharing, carpooling and buses - Zimride](http://www.zimride.com/)
