Cheating--and teachers' lame responses

^^ SMH. I doubt she would actually give you a zero, they’re just empty threats. Otherwise she would have to answer to a) angry parents, b) the principal, and c) the school board.

By the way, did you do Mathcounts at all?

^ That’s a little bit extreme. If you’re breaking into offices just to get an A, you need to get a life.

Yes. I did MathCounts.

Hence the name.

my school is nice because while cheating is certainly not rampant, if you maybe forget to do your homework one day, there is always someone willing to help you out and let you copy their answers. people dont really rely on this too much, but there’s like a mutual understanding that if someone’s in a pinch, it’s no big deal to help them out a bit.

even the two kids i’m competing with for val and myself help each other out a lot. just the other day i forgot to finish my math hw so one of them let me look at his. the next week, he did not understand the physics hw at all so i let him copy my whole sheet. it’s a nice de facto system that very few people take advantage of.

there are a few more problems when it comes to taking tests, but most of the top kids do not cheat off of people. the only kids who really cheat on tests are those who are really struggling just to pass a class, and most kids dont mind if they sneak a look on your paper.

ahh forget about him…he might not make it in college while honest people, like yourself, will succeed.

I guess another thing to point out is that these people are everywhere in life. Plain old disgusting people exist anywhere: at your schools, in the military, in the government, at Harvard, Yale, your community college, and even in your family.

I find that there are just so many, that it is sometimes just useless to fight it every time.

But yea, to answer the OP’s question, I’ve faced these situations many times. It’s just sooo frustrating at times.
I just learn to deal with it. …and hope for KARMA!!!

…whether it’ll be tomorrow or 50 years from now. :D

oh yea, I feel that Karma is directly proportional to time. The longer a person goes without punishment, the harder they’ll fall. Or the longer you deal with the cheater and hold your head up high, and not succumb to the pressures, something really really really good will come  …mmmm maybe like a Yale or Harvard acceptance and none for him hehehe…

In my opinion, cheating is a big issue at our school. To my knowledge, last year’s val did not cheat, but lots of people say that the sal did regularly.

I don’t take issue with cheating on homework, as in asking for answers, because it usually counts for completion or teachers let you work together anyways. But I don’t like it when people cheat on tests by having NOTECARDS on their desk and don’t get caught because the teacher just sits at the computer. But those people still get C’s or D’s in the class, anyways, because they still get tons of wrong answers when they do cheat.
