Check out how pathetic this is

My school doesn't give out GPA like a normal institution; no, we have RANGES for pre-determined GPAs. Here's the breakdown:

97 - 100: 4.0
93 - 96: 3.7
90 - 92: 3.4
87 - 89: 3.1
83 - 86: 2.8

And so on...

My problem is that my UW GPA is in the low 96's. This means that I still have a 3.7, which is a 92 in most schools...

Furthermore, I have a downward trend in grades from a 97+ UW in 9th, 96 in 10th, and 95 this year.

So what matters more? My rank throughout HS(1) or the UW GPA/downward trend?

your rank. if your #1 with a 3.7, then that's awesome.
actually, a 92 is a 3.5 in most schools.
anyways, you SHOULD have a 4.0. b/c 94+ is an A

Rank...............

Our school has:

AP Class
97-100 4.6
94-96 4.4
90-93 4.2
etc.

Pre-AP Class is
97-100 4.3
94-96 4.1
90-93 3.9

And so on for regular classes
