My son will be 18 in June. He doesn't have to register for selective service via FASFA? Just making sure (not sure if they wanted pre-emptive registration...didn't want to mess w/a federal requirement!).

Thanks...

Great Question, we are in the same situation. We just left it blank.

Your post reminded me that I need to get my son to register, so I went on their site to check it out. They do have a provision for boys who are 17 years old plus 3 months or more to register and they will hold the information until the person is 18. They may have done that for this very reason. You may want to do that. (My son turned 18 in Dec, so he has to register.)

Thanks for the responses! Good to know, katytibbs! Son is more than 17 plus 3 months, so I guess he'll register. Maybe your son is in the same boat, suzy13? I need to track down the explanatory section of the FASFA to try & figure these things out! Appreciate it!

Went to a FA night at my son's HS last week. They went over the F form line by line. Registering is a Federal Law. Said that it is better to err on the side of checking it than not and holding up your application.

True, LongeyeMom, that's what I was thinking. Glad to hear it validated.
