Can anyone explain the difference? If I were to become a premed, i would take chem 33 right? But what if i dont place out of chem 10, will they make me take that class and then chem 33?

Take 33, don't even think about 10. That's all you need to know.

what if I cant place out of chem 10?

you will. on the off-chance you bomb the placement exam, talk to the professor and he (or she) will help you figure out what is best. in most cases, if you know what a mol is, it's worth the extra-effort to bust your butt in CH 33

DId you take HS chemistry? If you did and you're going to Brown I have full confidence that you'll be fine in 33.

My pre-med roommate bombed the placement exam, and just took Chem 33 anyway. She struggled a little, but there's tutoring and stuff available, and she ended up doing ok. Rereqs and placement exams at Brown are, for the most part, "suggestions" -- they won't usually keep you out of a class you want to take.
