Hey, I got a 3 on the ap chem test my sophomore year of high school and I wanted someone to compare ap chem to this sequence. Easier? Harder? The same? Also any general comments about the teachers, class size, exd. Any help would be great thanks.

My school didn’t offer AP chem, they called it advanced chem, but it was very similar. I got an A in the class my senior year of high school. I’m currently in Chem 142. The material in AP chem and 142 overlap a lot. I haven’t really had much of a hard time because a lot of the class material is review. Most of my new learning thus far has been applying my knowlage to new types of problems that are harder than ones from high school. So far (1 midterm down), I feel like I’m doing really well. However, I still have not seen how the curve (class mean must be 2.6 plus or minus .2) will effect my grade.
I can’t speak for 152 or 162, but I’m also intersested in what people thought of them.

Good to hear. What do you think about the professors or TAs or whoever teaches the class? Also how many people are in the class?

I think my professor does a really good job, he keeps things interesting and does a good using analogies to simplify things. The class has about 500 people in it right now, but every week there is a section where you meet with your TA and about 20 other students to ask questions ect.

That’s comforting. I was afraid of going to a large state school because of the class size but it’s good to know that you get to ask questions with the TA once a week in a smaller environment. What has your experience been with the TA so far? Is that once a week section really helpful for students?
