I had a few questions about the textbook for the Chem 14 series..
Lavelle is requiring the fifth edition this year...

1.Are the problem sets different for each edition?
2.Is the textbook at UCLA different than the one we can buy at Amazon? I heard it's a custom edition with selected chapters and whatnot...
3.Are the textbooks for Chem 14A and Chem 14B the same? Or will we have to buy another one once that class starts?
4.Is there anyway to save money on these textbooks without going through a hassle?!?!?
5.What do you guys recommend??

most likely the problem sets will be different but the content will be the same
if we get lucky it will have the same problem set but just moved around in different order

2.i had heard that they werent gonna make it custom edition this year…and from what corbin has told us custom editions only differ in that they have a preface in the front of the book adressing ucla students. ucla only does custom editions cuz the publishers sell them for cheaper.

you will be using the same book for chem 14a b and c last i checked

buy them online or go to textbook plus or some other bookstore on westwood.

If you get the old book, it will be a bit harder to sell it to the next wave of Chem 14A/B takers than with the current edition. That’s just what I see…

Just buy the old 4th edition from me. Pretty sure it wont be that much different. Problem set might be the only difference. I’ll sell the book and manual cheap =]

I can get both the 3rd edition text + solutions manual/study guide for under $10 or the 4th edition text + solutions manual/study guide for under $30…

My only question is WILL IT MATTER if you use a different edition? Cause I don’t wanna dish out $100+ for the 5th edition… if it won’t matter.
