chem 23L second semester?

From the bookbagging stuff, I found out that the Chem 23L schedule interferes with three of the classes I want to take first semester. (a lot of these classes I should take in the fall b/c they are prerequisites for other classes). is there a 23L section in the spring?

thanx a lot!

Last year there was only one section of Chem 23. If it interferes with those pre-req classes I would recommend moving up to orgo if you feel fairly strong about gen chem or moving down to Chem 21, which might end up being really easy for you. The freshmen orgo class has a favorable curve in the end even though I think people did bad on the tests. Chem 23 with Toone last year really didn't help with learning gen. chem but acted as more of a pre-orgo kind of class. Chem 23 ended up being hard just because everyone seemed to do well on the tests, and I didn't feel it helped much with learning gen. chem like we did in high school. I wished I had taken orgo instead because Chem 23, didn't serve as a review like i thought it would. You do end up learning some new and useful things that will help you in orgo though (with Toone). I dont know who the prof this year is or what they will do with the class.

I don't think they offer Chem 23 in the spring. At least, they didn't this past year.

what textbook do they use

Last year's textbook was General Chemistry: the Essential Concepts by Raymond Chang.

I'm pretty sure Chem 23 has never been offered in the spring.
