Chem 3AL PLEASSSEE

anyone know if more sections will open?

if someone on this forum is gonna drop, please let me know so i can get into your spott!!!

i really really really need to take this classss

shieeettt

Looking at how few sections there are and how many seats are available for lecture, there probably will be more sections opening up once the semester starts. Last year they had 4-5 sections Monday morning, it looks like there are two per time slot at most, so maybe they'll open up more.

But then again, 3BL this semester has about 20 waitlisted per section and they DIDNT open up more.

Also, if you REALLY need to take 3A but can't get in, the coordinators recommend chem 112A, more in depth, but there aren't a ton of premeds trying to get good grades.

Yeah dude, I feel your pain..I had to go talk to the chemistry department, and I luckily got placed onto the waitlist because I got a spot taken away from junior transfer calso.

Apparently, they usually have 30-35 sections, but they only have money + TAs for about 20. Problematic.

stly: Does 112A count in place of 3A/AL, even after taking 3B/BL?

i talked to the coordinator for the class and she said unless they magically get more money they cant open any more sections... probably why they're letting us take 3A w/o 3AL

I don't know if you can do 3A/112. I don't think 112A is offered spring either.

the waitlist goes by who's on top, and every section has a waitlist already.

if they're letting you do 3A and 3AL separately, take 3AL in the summer or fall, the fall class is less impacted. 3AL in summer is really nice b/c it's only 2 units and if you are eligible for financial aid, you need 6 units so a 4 unit course + 3AL is a good combo.

Oh with that attitude, I am totally ready to give my lab spot and by the way it's not like you can trade spots over tele-bears. Learn to be tolerant.

Are you desperate for just the lab or for both lecture and lab? If it's just lab, I see no reason that you OMGWAHWAHWAH MUST take it now. Chem3 labs are fairly easy - they're a big time crunch during the lab session itself, but outside of labtime, it's not bad at all. The GSIs are generally pretty generous with grades. Pushing it off a semester or two won't affect anything, because it's not really a prereq for anything, nor is it gonna teach you anything so crucial that you'll be negatively affected in your future classes.

If it's lecture, though, look into summer school if you can spare the cash. I've heard some very positive experiences from friends who took it in the summer.
