Chem3AL problem/question

If what I've been informed is true, no lab sections will be added for spring Chem 3AL...which pretty much leaves me screwed on the wait list. Should I just take Chem3A (lecture) without the lab this spring, and then take Chem3B (lecture + lab), Bio 1B, and the lovely Chem3A lab all at once next fall? Would that be way too much work? Can anyone suggest a better plan? Thanks!

I would do that if I were you. It might be a bit much, but lab is really not that big a deal. Neither is bio 1B

summer session to split it up a little? except I don’t suggest it since I’m in the same situation and doing that. That sucks they are not adding labs…

i think it’s okay if you do it like that

have to take 3a lab before you take 3b lab my man. so take something over the summer. or don’t.

crap…i wanted to take 3al with 3b and 3bl over the summer. poo

^so we can’t enroll consecutively? can we take 3AL and 3B together?

yeah i think you can do 3al and 3b together. you need 3a for 3b and 3al for 3bl. good thing anyways. all that nmr crud

yea what is all that nmr stuff? i saw it on the syllabus…

gah, that they’re not adding any more lab sections screws over SO many students… btw, has anyone taken the 3AL by itself? doable?

waitlisted #51 T___T

“keep your sense of humor” <— ****. YOU.

3al by itself is very doable. and what’s up with that last quote

that’s how the coordinator has been finishing all of her emails. kinda aggravating.

Okay, here is your solution

Take Chem 3A lecture this semester
then in fall take Chem 3AL and Bio 1A/L
then in spring take Chem 3B/L and Bio 1B (it will be tough, but you’ll have to deal)

OR you can take Chem 3A lecture this semester with Bio 1B. I think this is a better solution (I know people who’ve done it and got A’s in both), but it may be hard to get into bio because you will have to wait for people to drop.

why not this…
spring: chem 3A
summer: chem 3AL
fall: chem 3B/L, bio 1b
spring: Bio 1A

I think you should take 3A and 3B consecutively… so you wouldn’t forget the material after 1 semester.

not the best idea.

Most people I know don’t like Vollhardt, so it would be best to avoid him if you can. Taking a gap between 3A and 3B is not that uncommon (I myself did it). It is not that bad, all you have to do is review the first half of the textbook during winter break.

^does vollhardt teach 3B in the fall? when does he teach?

Vollhardt teaches Chem 3B every fall, Pedersen every spring, and Viernes every summer.

The general order of preference I have seen is people Pedersen the most, Vollhardt the least, and they like Viernes somewhere in the middle

How hard is it to get into the class for summer?

Not hard at all. Summer 09 there were many empty spots.
