if i received a 5 on the ap chem test, what is suggested as a chemistry course fall quarter? i'm deciding between o.chem, chem a-c, chem bh-ch, keeping in mind that i still need a high gpa for med schools...

i believe this question has been addressed multiple times in the last two weeks alone - search the archives, as previous posters aren't wont to copy-and-paste their blurbs.

(i suggest 140 series, you can retake gchem at your convenience jr/sr year)

any advice on choosing one prof. over the other out of profs. robert ternansky, edith c. glazer, and james whitesell?

haha phoebe came back to teach? well, she's brand spanking new, so best to let other students try her out before you entrust her with teaching you 140A.

whitesell is super easy but not spectacular as a teacher (his wife is the chancellor, makes you wonder a few things).

ternansky is a VERY sarcastic and bitter professor, but knows his stuff cold. really good lecturer. exams difficult but out of all the classes, if you can manage an A from ternansky, you'll learn the most ochem out of all three profs. (and if you're a girl, you can flirt your way to near anything)

right now a bunch of the ochem classes are full with like about 5-15 ppl on the waitlists. is it likely this will clear up or is it better to just wait until winter to sign up?

just sign up; you don't want to be off-track for ochem (fewer friends to study with, fewer profs/times to choose from when registering).

^ This is probably a really stupid question. I was looking at my classplanner earlier, and several of the classes are either full or have people waitlisted already. How is this possible when registration begins on the 28th?

continuing students have already registered

is requesting to do research at the scripps institute similar to at ucsd itself (just approaching the prof.)?

how common is it for science majors to commute to the scripps institute for work?

astrina! i/m taking glazer...what do you expect her to be like as a prof? ...

i've never watched her teach before, can't say :)
