Hi, this is my first post on college confidential.

I am an international student doing chemical engineering.
My current GPA is 3.3 with 97 semester units completed at the end of this spring.
I have so many units because I have completed everything that ChemE requires (all physics, all chem till ochem, all maths, comsc and etc..) and also I started community college when I was 16, 2006 Fall, and dint know what i wanted to do so just took general classes in the beginning (just need like one class from art or music to complete IGETC) and I am 20 now.

I got admitted to UCSB but rejected from UCSD. San diego was always my first choice and was devastated by the rejection. I couldnt do tag because I am an international student.

I do realize UCSB is pretty good for ChemE but I have always wanted to go to SD. My parents and teachers say, just go to santa barbara.
The thing is I want to wait around a year and maybe work and go to SD next year(GREAT they are starting TAG for international students starting NEXT YEAR ! T.T).

the reason why i wanna go to SD so badly is because of my girlfriend who is planning to to go Art institute of california, SD. there isnt any art institute campus near UCSB for us to live together.

I wanna do appeal to SD because I think I really do deserve to get in. It really sucks. I am so depressed because I look at all these kids who cheat their way through CC classes and are so happy now because they got into UCLA and Cal. Argh, I ve never cheated and I think I really do deserve to go to SD but I didn't get in.

so the question is,
Should I wait a year(working or something, its not like my parents are rich so I wanna work and get myself ready, maybe a car or some spending money) and go to SD?

or just go to SB this year(not UCSD that I ve always wanted to go to but still a good school for ChemE, but not being able to live with my gf) ?

Please, any opinion or opinion will be appreciated.
