Chemistry book not in stock yet...

Hi. Just wondering about a chemistry book that my Son has to have when he arrives at FSU in the fall. "Laboratory for Chemistry" by John Mcmurry. It says it will take 1-2 months to ship on Amazon, Half. com is out of stock and it is brand new, so is anyone else having this problem with this book? He is going to order it now from FSU bookstore, but still won't get it in time for his classes.

If the book is not in stock, the bookstore has most likely informed the professor of the situation. This is not an unusual occurence and the professor will plan the class accordingly.

Likely, neither will half the class. Over half of the students, in my D’s experience at FSU, do not get texts ahead of time. They don’t even visit the bookstore until after the first day of class, to see if they really need all of the texts listed.

If this is for the lab section, most lab sections do not even start the first week of class. Most labs have 10-12 labs over a 15 week term.

He can ask around in the first chem class (reg class, not lab) as it is likely a newer edition and students are having trouble finding it. He can email the prof for the lab or class he needs it for as well. There are hundreds of students in each chem section, so the prof has likely already gotten emails. As students start moving on campus and actually visiting the bookstore, the emails will pick up. Then there will likely be an email to the class, or a posting on Blackboard that the prof is aware and of recommendations.

Thanks for the replies, much appreciated.
