Chemistry Curve

I still like calc BC curve better.

There should just be thousands of zombies who take the test and bomb it so that all of us can get 5's.

u screwed up the 8th question badly. I wasnt aware i hap a periodic table so im there doing 1S^2 and then i screw up since i end in like 6f^14 so everything is wrong. But all the other questions i nailed still a 4 or 5

sounds good, jon

yeah, at least 25-30% of ppl who take the test have no idea what they're doing, so we should all be alright.

ziggytheman:
where did you get the statistic 25-30% from? Provide a source please

omg soulstealer stop worrying about it. we don't get our scores til july. there's nothing you can do about it now. either you knew it or you didn't.

I'm not worried about scores right now--I'm worried about a possible ruined reputation by calling a balck man a snitch!!!--lol

soulstealer07: the only source I could give for that would be CollegeBoard's grade distributions, which say that approximately 25% of test-takers receive one's on the AP Chemistry exam each year....a one requires a very low raw score, so much so that a student would bascially have to have no idea what they're doing to earn such a grade. it was an inductive leap....not everything on a damn HS message board has to have footnotes and a proper bibliography.

Guys will someone give me the calculations on how to do it? LIke how much do I multiply mY FRQ by. Also t would be nice if someone could tell me the maximum ammount of points one can get.

the numbers of points for each question differ by each exam taken. from one of the practice tests that my teacher gave us:

multiple choice: {# correct out of 75 - (number wrong)/4} * 0.96 = multiple choice score = weighted section 1 score

free response: (don't round any answers)
question 1: (points earned out of 9) * 1.9556 = ?
question 2 or 3: (points earned out of 9) * 1.9556 = ?
question 4: (points earned out of 15) * 1.8800 = ?
question 5: (points earned out of 8) * 1.6500 = ?
question 6: (points earned out of 8) * 1.6500 = ?
question 7 or 8: (points earned out of 8) * 1.6500 = ?

add the free response points up (without rounding) to get the weighted section II score

weighted section 1 score + weighted section 2 score = composite score (round to nearest whole number)

conversion chart:
1 = 0-34
2 = 35-56
3 = 57-81
4 = 82-99
5 = 100-160

can anyone confirm the above poster?

Um I tried doing the "perfect" score and i Got a 175.. your numbers are off I think.

See if I got a perfect on the FRQ (103.0008) And then 75 right (72) I would get like a 175.

How does collegeboard determine the curve?

i just got it directly from the ap scoring sheet our teacher gave us.

haha yeah i got 175, too, that's why i asked if anyone could confirm that. hmmm

o wow i hope that scoring is right becuase if it is i would get a 5 easily.

haha yeah, I got like a 145 on that scale and I thought to myself, "There's no way that's right." I guess it's all on a curve, anyway, so it doesn't really matter what your raw score is by itself, only compared to other test-takers, but still.

that scoring is only right for that specific test - it changes every year.

My teacher ordered two old AP tests from CB, the 1999 and 200x (can't remember). They were 100 and 107 for a 5 respectivley.
