i will be taking the chemistry SAT test on the 23rd of January, and i am presently a junior doing IB chemistry in school. i havent reached the equilibrium part with all the 'Ksp' and different calculations concerning that topic.

however, i have self studied most of it. My basics about the 'Ksp' seem to be fine, but i think the advanced 'Ksp' part seems to be a bit difficult. how hard are the equilibrium calculations on the actual test?

Does the Princeton Review book for chemistry cover all the essential topics and are the tests accurate? Is the SAT chemistry test more 'calculation' based or 'theory' based?

umm, Ksp is pretty easy and while you might get away with not even one question specifically about Ksp (high five!), equilibrium concepts are kind of important (like Kw). My sister gave the SAT chem and she didn’t have Ksp. Unless you are going to the test with the mindset that you WILL do it again, you should read and understand whatever the PR book says (Is SAT equilibrium concept as difficult as IB equilibrium concept? No, I don’t think so.)

Yup, I am an International (aiming for the ivies, haha)

no, IB equilibrium is way harder. as i mentioned before, we havent reached that part yet, and wont till the end of next year (dont ask why, lol). do buffer solution questions also come. they seem hard, really hard.

so, in conclusion the PR SAT book is not up to the mark? It doesnt effectively cover all the topics? any other opinions?

Presently, I have only that book to prepare, so all your opinions will be valuable to me of whether i should use that book or get Barrons.

Buffer solutions don’t come up often on the SAT chem test (I mean, at least the Henderson-Hasselbalch bit). But its good to know.

Henderson Hasselbalch equation is logic and it would do you good if you could go online and learn how this was derived (algebra).

PR is good enough. If you have done some Chemistry before going into IB, the PR will just reinforce that (and in some rare cases, cases that might be rare occurrences on the test itself, add on to what you know) .

Are you doing the entire diploma or the certificate?

I remember teaching my sis this–your last PR chapter probably has diagrams and explanations for the apparatus. Just go through that. I’m sure you know it all though - IB has a lot of lab work!

review the concepts u knw
Study Da one’s u dont knw
If u are gud in chemistry u defiently wont have a lot of prob in studying
its not so hard to prepare ( it needs a heart )
