Chemistry Olympiad 2013!

What did you think was the hardest part of the test i thought it was the stioch some of it seemed weird to me

MC was harder than last year IMO… FRQ was hard too but not that bad. Lab was alright

I thought the free response was marginally easier than last year’s, actually. MC was so-so. Failed lab haha.

Are we given scrap paper at the exam? I need a lot of room for work so XP

Yeah, MC was difficult and random. -_- FRQ was just crushing.
Do I have a chance at camp if I get around a 50 and about 80 percent on Free Response?

what did you guys find diffucult in the mc? the randomness? or did you guys not know a topic i thought minus a few it was pretty straight forward

Yeah, I have never heard of a few of the concepts. How do u think you did?

Remember that people are still taking it tomorrow and Monday, so it’s best not to discuss specifics. Definitely don’t mention any topics that were on the MC.

I thought this year’s was hardly distinguishable from the past two years difficulty-wise. Of course, personal preference and familiarity with certain topics could sway it.

jeffisaboss, I dont have enough posts to pm. Sorry!

YouTwoThirtyFive, how well would we have to do to make camp?

Taking the test tomorrow. Hope I do well!!! Anybody else taking it tomorrow?

nerdy didn’t you make camp last year?

sadly no  got to honors. hoping for camp this year!

Most of mistaked you for someone else best of luck

So will be the cutoff score most likely be around 43 like previous years?

@jeff thanks, you too!

@justin, it varies but im guessing usually like 40-45 is good for 150

Sorry I’m asking such general questions here guys but I’m very new to this. For the 5 hour testing, do we get breaks after each section?

I got a break after two sections to eat lunch, but not between the first two. We basically just changed locations.

GOOD LUCK TO ALL WHO ARE GOING TO TAKE THE TEST!

What would the score be for high honors?

Usually like 43 ish on the MC, 45-60% on FR and okay on the lab.

hey can someone quickly show me how to do this one:
A rigid container holds an equal number of moles of N2
and H2 gas at a total pressure of 10.0 atm. The gases react
according to the equation, N2(g) + 3 H2(g) 2 NH3(g).
If the total pressure of the gas decreases at a rate of
0.20 atm•s–1, what is the rate of change of the partial
pressure of N2 in the container?
(A) decreases at 0.40 atm•s–1
(B) decreases at 0.30 atm•s–1
(C) decreases at 0.20 atm•s–1
(D) decreases at 0.10 atm•s–1
