Im sorry if someone has already posted this. There are way too many threads on this board. Anyways, I am planning to take the SAT2 Chemistry test. Has anyone taken this before? I talked to my chem teacher and she said that if I buy a study book after her class is over ( chemistry honors/gifted) at the end of the year, I will do fine. Do I need AP Chemistry before I take it or will this be ok?
Also, how do I register for an SAT2 subject test? Im confused....
Thanbks!

they reccomend a year of college based chemistry, and I am in AP Chem, and it is a real tough class. (at least for me)

just go to collegeboard.com and sign up for the sat iis and pick chemistry. If you take it right now, you'll have a lot of studying to do before you take the test.

It may be easier for you to take the Chemistry SAT2 next year (this is what my chem teachers advise). Because, if you take AP Chem, all the prepping you do for the AP test will more than prepare you for the SAT2. People in my school who have gotten 5's on the AP Test almost always score 800s.

Finally something I can advice someone on. I took AP chemistry and took the Chemistry SAT II very close to the AP Chemistry test. I received a 780 on the SAT II and a 5 on the AP test. Unless your first year chemistry class covered everything listed under the chemistry SAT II very extensively, (mine did not), I would think that it would be better if you wait until AP chemistry if you have that choice. Chemistry is a hard subject, though a very fun one, especially if you have a great teacher, (it sounds like you do). I did not study for the SATII separately, so I cannot really suggest any study guides. Good luck! I know how stressful it can all be. Just remember, this too is for the good.

Yeah my chemistry teacher is a really fun one. She is also the hardest chemistry teacher in the district. Students took a test and it was proven.

Take a practice test and see how you do--that's probably the best way to predict your chances. It's also good to familiarize yourself with the test format, especially since the Chemistry SAT II has some weird types of questions.

I bought the Kaplan SAT II Chemistry to prepare for the test. I was stressing over all the radioactive decay, nuclear stuff because I have not studied that. But the actual tests did not have any of that!! I got 740. which is better than the scores I got in the practice tests.
