Hello I'm currently a freshman this year and am deciding whether or not to take a chemistry class during the summer so that I will be able to take AP chemistry my sophomore year or if I should apply to a Boy Scout camp for a majority of the summer. The two options overlap (obviously) so doing both is not an option. If I where to take AP Chemistry my sophomore year then I would have a total of 3 AP classes (Chemistry, US Gov, and Psychology) as well as Honors Pre-Calc, German 3 honors, English 10 Honors, Computer Programming, and Drivers Ed 1st semester and Seminary (bible study) 2nd semester. My question is, is it worth it to skip the chemistry class and just take honors chemistry next year so that I can work at a summer camp or should I take the chemistry class so that I will be eligible to take AP chemistry? Also which would look better on a college application? Thanks for your replays in advance!

I think working at a summer camp would be better. From my experience, science courses during the summer cut a lot of labs out which are important for building lab write-up skills. You could take AP Chemistry in junior or senior year too.

I think working is a better choice. It sounds like you will have enough AP classes to be competitive at any college if your grades & test scores are good as well. There is a certain piont where stacking on more APs isn’t helpful in the college admissions process. They like to see that you do something besides study. I say go for camp.

Thanks for all the replies they have been really helpful!
