like people said, it seems like you just need to improve your study habits and homework habits.

I really hate people that think they are smart and thus think they can slack off. What did Einstein say? Genius is 1% intelligence and 99% hard work. -ebonytear

wow i love this quote considering that einstein, despite all his brilliance, was one of the biggest high school slackers of all time.

very ironic though, if thats what you were going for

vehement, after you are rejected from a college you can appeal. if you managed to get A's your senior year, you can send your senior grades along w/ an appeal, which may get you in.

good news, my second semester grade came out and i think my sopho and ju ior year gpa is 2.991 (dammit...2.99)

btw how do i calculate my uc gpa? for the electives, can i put down whcih ever one i want?

Vehement:

You already know what I think.

OP: yes, I suppose Einstein is a special case. So am I supposed to think that you are comparable in intelligence? Not to be degrading, but I don't think anyone is as smart as Einstein. Except Hawking. If you're so brilliant, I'm sure you can find your own way, and don't even need college.

EDIT: I don't think his 'spectuacular SAT' scores will get him into LA and Cal. For all the UCs, they weigh GPA way more heavily than SAT. And LA itself is more EC-reliant. I doubt a person with 2400 SAT I and 2 800s could get in on straight testing alone, either. The UC schools do have standards.

EDIT: I was looking at posts and realized this is your fourth time. Have your stats changed or something? Otherwise, I doubt the response is going to be any different. It just seems to me that you're looking for is 'of course you'll get in' responses.

You guys got your quotes mixed up. I am pretty sure Thomas Edison said, "Genius is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration."

EDIT: you're right. apparently, though, Einstein is the one who popularized it.

sorry! lol.

"Genius is (1%) one percent inspiration, and (99%) ninety-nine percent perspiration.
- Thomas Edison"

lol. and wow, was I off. :)

ebony, my sat has gone up by 100+ and my gpa decreased by 0.3 /heh

and finally i have some EC!

besides "I really hate people that think they are smart and thus think they can slack off"

I don't really get your post. I mean if I was in China I might as well have gotten into Beijing U or Xinhua since China looks at test scores alone. Of course the tests are much harder but I would have studied harder since I can't bare to see others beat me on exams. HW is for those who needs it but for those who don't, whats the point?

by the way Vehement, i wouldn't mention in your EC's that you were the assistant of that prep class (and thus probably learned from that prep class)... best to let them believe you got those astronomic scores because your brilliant, not because you studied

Darn it...that prep class is ran by a friend of dads and its like 1 step away from school and house...its like the only place where work doesn't seem like a chore (i love copying papers)...

can anyone suggest any ec that i cna take?

Starting with the Class of 2006, UC's require a 3.0 unweighed GPA for admissions.

emaailed ucr and they said its still 2.8 for 2006 for all UC O_O

anyone confirm please?

i still gotta admit
those are very high sat scores
maybe everyone's just jealous of them
in fact, you have a 99% chance in getting into brown if you applied there because they accept 99% of everyone who scored 1600 on the old sat according to this book about students who score 1600 on their sats

*emaailed ucr and they said its still 2.8 for 2006 for all UC O_O

anyone confirm please?*

Correct. Staring with 2007, it goes up.

"
Chicago (they make a huge deal about 'loving learning for learning' and participating in class and such - i.e. not slacking off)"

Not neccessarily. I've seen Chicago take risks on a few people with very high SATs and low GPAs (there was one guy on the Chicago board who I think had a GPA lower than this guy and was waitlisted then accepted).

you guys just made my day.....O_O

using a mental disorder that doesn't exist in the first place won't get you anywhere. but I'll love to see you try to explain it in your college essays.

i actually thought i did. i mean...i really couldn't concentrate in class..well tests..dats different

now to find excuses >_<
