Chicago or NU as a transfer?

I haven't received my evaluation yet, but I have a question... do we have to take those common core classes even if we're transferring in as juniors?

Uh... yes.

its weird----i gotta make some changes for that thing.....

i took a history class that fits exactly under civilizations, and they dumped it into the elective pool

bball: Are you going to Chicago?

I hear they don't like to give too much Core credit.

How many classes did they outright decline to give any credit for? How many transferred as Core?

So I'm guessing it's pretty hard then to finish in 2 years if you're transferring in as a junior and you have to take all the core classes...

I don't think so - 6-7 quarters is what I have heard. Some credit transfers as Core.

i would be entering as a sophmore

my estimated amount of quarters of completion to finish my degree

7-9

basically...i can only take only 3 classes a quarter, and NEVER 4, and finish on time

hmm so are you going?!

Eh...lucky.

I still haven't received anything in the mail from Chicago, let alone a course evaluation. Never even received an email. I only know that I was admitted because of calling Jerry first, and then a counselor and secretary separately -because- I hadn't received anything.

Bball: You completed one year at Cornell or two?

1 year-----i was pretty pleased w. the credit eval...AP CREDITS were very HELPFUL

i can finish on time by taking only 3 a quarter forever as long as i choose the right courses

No AP - accepted all but 3 of my courses. I need 19-20 courses at Chicago to graduate in six quarters. Woohoooo :D

Is the standard courseload three courses per quarter?

BBall: Clear some PM space.

Three courses per quarter is the standard in the way five per semester is. You CAN take four, like you CAN take six.

One needs 42 credits to graduate, 1 course = 1 credit. Over a 4 year period, that translates to 6 quarters at 3 courses, and 6 at 4 courses. Of course, placement and AP credit can help as well. My S took 4 his first year, will be doing a full year of chemistry over the summer (3 credits), then doing 3 courses for 3 quarters. He actually will need more than 42 credits to do what he wants to do. Yea, I agree, he's nuts.

neverborn, my pm box is empty now

at northwestern, weinberg is 45!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and northwestern for transfer credit, only gives 1 unit per each class, even at semester schools

at least chicago, gave me some 3 unit things for 2 semester classes, and took 6 ap credits as 6 units....

So only 2 days left...make a decision yet?

I bet his decision is...

Everyone who would like an extension on the transfer reply date of June 15 should call Krystal at 773-702-8650.
