Actually it depends how you have it scheduled. We were booked through 4pm although a lot of people stopped around noon. Some of the schools like Hartt had an afternoon block on Wednesday. Also, Ithaca stayed and had a morning block on Thursday-we did that so we didn’t have to rush on Wednesday and could spread out our auditions. Also the hotel down the street (I can’t remember the name maybe Silversmith?) had auditions on Thursday morning too. Maybe someone who went down there could chime in about that. Once lunchtime hit Wednesday it did quiet down though

txtxyeha, we finished up at 7pm on Wednesday. It will depend on how many auditions your child wants to do and when they are scheduled. We had to fly from the west coast and I wanted to make sure weather didn’t factor in too much, so we flew out on Saturday.

txtxyeha-some schools have a Sunday evening dance call… Roosevelt and Texas State did this year

There are other schools that audition during the day on Sunday (though some of these were MFA programs) as well as morning and afternoon sessions on Thursday (DePaul and UNCSA were 2 that stick out in my mind).

Just when I worry I’m over-thinking things I get replies like this that provide answers that I wasn’t expecting. Very appreciative of you’uns sharing your knowledge.

One other thing to consider is risk. My daughter woke up Sunday morning to fly out to Unifieds with a severe cold. By that evening, she was running a fever, huge swollen tonsils, and it was not looking good. She ended up cancelling 2 auditions and keeping 4 over Mon and Tues. But she was disappointed that some of her favorite schools were subpar auditions due to illness.

I am thankful that “all her eggs were not in one basket”. She had previously auditioned for some other schools, but cost factors into how many we could travel to. So, my advice is don’t plan to stuff too many in one week in case the worst happens and you are struck ill.

It is very interesting to me how Unifieds have changed according to the increasing numbers of applicants! 2 years ago the only schools who held any kind of audition in Chicago on Sunday (or prior to Monday) were UMich and Roosevelt. And by noon on Wednesday, most were heading back home or were on their way to LA! As much as I hope each young person can follow their dream, I hope the ‘Glee effect’ wears off in the new future. Perhaps that will then also balance out the number of kids who get into MT programs and discover very quickly it is not what they want.
