I've been thinking about going to the east coast for college but I want to go somewhere where the atmosphere and the students are really chill, not stuck-up and high class.

Thanks!

down south clemson, usc, auburn, ole miss, bama, tennesee, little more north JMU, Tech, penn state, north Umass amherst, vermont

I disagree, a lot of people at schools in the south can be somewhat stuck-up. Not filthy rich like the elites up north but they think they’re better than you at times (especially if you’re not from the south).

You should post this in the College Search & Selection forum.

YEah I agree with Penn State and UMass-Amherst. Not many in the NE–some SUNY schools are chill too.

NCSU and UNCW. Pretty much any college near the beach.
(10 char)

SUNY Old Westbury and Stony Brook

Stony Brook is very stuck up and cliqueish from what I’ve heard.

University of Maryland (College Park) is a completely chill atmosphere. Everyone else is really cool and accepting. Nothing high class about it, lol.

The only stuck up people I’ve met are the very few (usually honors and rich) who think they’re too good for the school, but they’re easy enough to avoid with such a huge student body.

UMD and VTech

UMD, WVU, Pitt, PSU

University of Rochester (NY). It’s somewhat competitive to get in but the students in my opinion are very chill and not stuck up either.

why are colleges on the east so notoriously stuck up? (I visited 2 I didn’t like, out of 4 total but I didn’t think any less of all east coast schools based on that)

lots of old money 'round them parts

VTech, UDel, UMD. A lot of the Maryland schools are pretty chill, actually. Avoid UVA.

If you go to Virginia Tech everyone will love you.
