Chinese SAT II?

Is this impossible if you're not fluent? Is it still respected if you're caucasian & score like a 500-600?

I've taken it for 4 yrs but I would still not be prepared I think...brand new idea to take a college class & prep over the summer.

Whatdo you think?

hmm i think for any SAT.. even if ur not a native speaker.. colleges usally prefer high 600s to 700s. because it's generrally regarded as a good score for Top schools. But wow! its rare to see a caucasian take Chinese! but if you do take it, the curve is pretty hard.. becsaeu if u miss two its pretty much down to a 790. But, if you can read about 70% of the words in teh reading comp you should be able to do fine. Reading comp are mostly made up of short paragraphs, ads, and like business cards ,asking you to identify when the stores are open. I had a question about how many doses one needs to take for their medicine. The grammar part, is well, if you understand the way chinese sentences are structured it shouldn't be too bad. Most of them you can just plug in the words and if it sounds wrong then you know its not the right choice. though they throw in some harder ones.. im a native speaker and i missed one, casue i didnt know the word. and i couldnt read the other types of pronucation they put on there.
The listening part, are pretty short convos about everday situation. It invovles finishing teh convo. Like it will start out with: person a) do you want to go to the mall today. person b) sure what time. and then tey'll give you some choices. a) no im busy... b) 4:00pm c) when does the movie start. .. and well the answer would be (b) becseau it makes the most sense in teh context of the converstaion

Since you're taking a prep school class, see how it goes when you take practice tests. If you get a feel for it, and it seems like you can do pretty well, then go for it. Just keep in mind that the majortiy of people that take it are fluent, but im sure colleges would take into consideration that it's actually a NON fluent speaker attempting the test. Hope this helps.

I am a native speaker and I knew 3 forms out of four of the ones they offered -- both simp. and trad, i knew zho-in also(not sure how you spell it). I have to say that SAT Chinese have the lowest percentiles because so many native speakers take it. I got 800 but I was only at 56 percentile. 540 is at 1 percentile for 2004. But still, it is a hard language, and colleges are very impressed by those non-native speakers who are willing to challenege themselves.

what i like about the Chinese SAT is that they do give you different forms of print so you can choose to look at which form you wish to. too bad i
m not taking it. yes, i
m chinese. ugh. and now, it`s down at 56 percentile at 800, thanks to too many native speakers.

What was the curve though because when I took it I got 78 for 2 of the 3 sections thus I think I missed 2 and still got an 800?
