heck, haven't posted for a long time. i watched the chun jie wan hui!! it's ok, better than the previous few anyway. i stayed up the whole night to watch.

hohospybear,

Then please free the Latin America from the Contras
Please apologize to Greneda
Free South Korea from your army presence
Free Afghanistan as it now has an independent governent
And why is America still in Iraq?

Politics is a lot more complicated than how it appears on the surface.
Tibet is also a lot more than what the American textbook says.

One real life example- In Tibet, the chirus (Tibetan Antelopes) are hunted, endangered and smuggled because of the ** western ** demands for the fur. Look at what China did to save it.

http://gbj.grchina.net/kekexili/default.htm

America and China have different political ideologies. We shouldn't impose one on another. Please look back at your own country, the American democracy is also flawed. China didn't demand America to free California and all the western states when the American troup invaded Mexico and forcefully annexed these land just merely 150 years ago. And how about the Native Americans? How many did your country kill to fulfill the American dream?

Many many Americans learned Tibet solely through the Hollywood Movie "Seven Years in Tibet." While itself is an entertaining movie, the historical facts are skewed. Even for the textbooks, one should read history through various sides to get an accurate view. How many non-american, non-english sources have you read?

For what we wish, the world should strive towards peace.
I pray Lhasa will retain the azure and Potala stands stronger as the history roars along.

I know this question is not appropriated in a forum about colleges, but do you guys know a place to download chinese albums??

bowtoserenity,

you might be true. but the thing is whenever dalai lama (correct me if i spelled it wrong) visits the U.S. or other countries and lecture on Tibet, China goes nuts. why is that? is that because he is a deceiver?
i dont think so. China wants to suppress dalai lama from speaking out because they know when everyone knows the truth about tibet, they wont be able to justify their occupation of tibet.
china doesnt grant freedom of speech. they do not have human rights. yes, china has developed tremendously economically, and yes, i marveled at Beijing and Shanghai's skyscrapper that remind me of NYC, but China have to stop oppressing innocent people

China rules, the only country that have the right people in the regime

i agree. free tibet. justify all you want, but it's still wrong.
and BTW, i'm not american so don't give me all the crap about american being in iraq and all. i also think that's wrong. chinese people live in chinese land, americans live in america, and tibetans live in tibet.

hohospybear, I have strong respect towards your country and Dalai Lhama but please understand that China has its own special history and political situation. While American democracy might be ideal for this country, it does not necessarily apply well to other countries. Look at examples like Guatemala where U.S. instilled its political system and received disastrous social stratification.

Different countries indeed take different measures to suppress their political opponents. While China might protest a lot, U.S. simply assasinates the foreign leaders they dislike (Castro, Yassar Arafat, etc) . I don't deem that as a respect to basic human rights either.

Dalai Lhama is reverend but he is the ultimate victim to the international political power struggle. Take a look at historical people like Anne Hutchinson in your own country.

I am not defending either side on the issue of TIbet. Just realize the complicated nature and consequences of lots of seemingly high ideals.

hello12,

following your logic, californians live in california, Guam people live in guam, navajos live in navajo nation.....

--and cussing is unnecessary when we are trying to find the peace in the world

just out of curiosity,
where do you live bowtoserenity?
you seem to know both american history and chinese history very well.
