Guys, I have been accepted to Rutgers Camden,New Brunswick ; Syracuse University, Fordham Gabelli School of business and Loyola Marymount (Los Angeles).
Can someone please help me choose which of these is the best to choose for a business major?
I am considering Good job offers and challenging courses as the major criteria for selection.

Fordham without a question because of its location and the university’s recent investments in Gabelli.

Definitely Fordham based on academics . If finances are tight, Rutgers-NB (assuming you are a resident of NJ). Fordham will cost about $35k extra a year if there is no financial reward.

I would also recommend Fordham.

I heard that Gabelli in Bronx is not a safe area to be in.Also, what are your views about Rutgers Newark?

It’s not in an ideal location, but if you’re familiar with city-life, then you are in a much better position.

To be quite honest, there’s not all that much to do in the Bronx. I know that there’s Arthur Ave., which is pretty much just an area with decent Italian restaurants, but that’s all. If you wanted to venture off campus, you would head to Manhattan, which is incredibly safe, via train. The train is literally within a few minutes away from the campus.

Thanks. Any suggestion about Rutgers-Newark?

Rutgers-New Brunswick followed by Camden then Newark, IMHO, if you are choosing between the Rutgers campuses. Otherwise, I like Fordham.

Why do you think Rutgers Newark is not as good as the other campuses?

You’re worried about the zoo area of the Bronx but no qualms about Newark? Please check out both campuses and report back.
Rutgers NB is the main campus and has the best undergraduate facilities/professors. #1 Fordham, #2 Rutgers NB

Agree with the above.

I’d say Fordham unless money is an issue and Rutgets is much cheaper. My S went to Gabelli – the campus itself is gated and is extremely safe and as long as one is smart off campus (ex. not walking around off campus drunk at 2AM waving an iPhone) you will be just fine there.

Any idea if fordham is better than bentley ?

I don’t know (and I don’t put a lot of weight in) the rankings but IMO the two schools are close academically but very different on other fronts. I think can get a great education at either place. If you prefer one over the other for any reason, I’d go with that.

My S went to Fordham and we looked at/visited Bentley too. We liked a lot of things about Bentley but my S ultimately decided he didn’t want to go to a school where everyone was studying business – he liked the idea of having a more well rounded student body during his undergraduate experience and he also thought that if he decided that he didn’t want to study business that he’d have to leave Bentley but he could just switch majors at Fordham (it didn’t happen, but he liked the option).

I’d say that if you want to settle in NYC Fordham will have more of a reputation/alumni base but maybe the tables would be turned if you want to settle in Boston. If you are between those two schools you can’t make a bad choice.
