I've recently been accepted to Rutgers New Brunswick, and since I really like the school I'll probably end up going there. Currently I'm trying to figure out where I should dorm. I already know I'd rather be on one of the quieter, scenic campuses like Douglass or Cook. What are the good dorms to be in there for freshmen? Also, would these campuses work well with my major? I want to go on to med school and become a neurologist, so I'll probably be doing something science/medical related. (Haven't worked out specifics yet)

I’m not sure which one is the best, but I think most freshmen choose the Livingston campus. I read it in some older thread that chem is at Livingston and that bio is at Busch but it might be vice versa lol.

You don’t get to choose your dorm, you only get to list a preference for your campus. Make sure you apply for housing (with deposit) as soon as it opens up sometime in March and you will probably get your first choice of campus.

I just looked at sections for General Chem and it looks like most classes are on D/C or LIV for the spring 2013 semester.

As you’re still in the earlier, non-specific stages of pre-med, you won’t have specific-to-your-major classes on Busch, so you can stay on Cook/Douglass if that’s what you want to do. Your classes are not yet campus specific and you could choose where you would like to be.

As rualum said, you can’t choose your dorm (unless you’re aiming for special interest housing or some type of learning community). You can only choose the campus. If you want to be with other science/medicine majors, Busch is where they mostly are. Cook/Douglass dorms are pretty nice (mine are, at least), especially when you compare them to the Livingston North and South Towers when you go to orientation later.

What kind of campus do you want to live on? Are you interested in special interest housing?

Rutgers housing fills up really fast, so pay the deposit and sign up for housing as soon as possible if you want your first choice. I signed up a couple weeks before the May 1 enrollment decision deadline and got placed in my fourth choice campus.
