choosing a preparation plan; act and sat

ok, im taking the act in september and the sat in oct. I already took the sat in june and got a 1870, with the CR (560) the section most needed for improvement.

I hear that preparing for the SAT helps the ACT but not the other way around. Should I just focus on one test? How should I best use the time I have left to seriously prepare for these tests?
Also, what methods should I use to prepare for the tests?

I really didn't "prepare" for either (and I certainly didn't study...)
I was expecting the worst on the act (and thus why I only ever took one practice test), but was really surprised when I got my score.

In general though, take as many practice tests as possible, and then focus in on the areas where you need the most help.

I'm definately preparing for the ACT, but not as much as the SAT. Since I live in Illinois, it's state required and I can retake it many times. The SAT isn't nearly as important to me.

I see that our HS offers PSAT prep and ACT prep. Do people choose, or do they do both? I've always felt that taking both tests makes sense, as you can do much better on one than the other. But to do both prep courses - is that overkill? (These are subsidized classes that the school offers).

Personally IMO, to do both is a waist of time, unless you have plenty of it. I'd take one class and then study the other test in a book.

imo classes are a waste when there are already tons of resources available to you. You just need to have discipline to take the practice tests.

where can u get free act real practice tests? im gonna study for the sat and hope that improves my act score

my g.c. gives out free act practice tests-the ones sent out by actorg.
