I'm sorry if this has been posted before, but this is my first time on here, and I couldn't figure out if there was a way to search through the forums. [Is there?] My question is this: I know that you can take either the SAT or the ACT, but does it look better if you take both? My high school offered a combo test prep earlier in the year so that you could see which test you would score better on. Despite the fact that my counselor said that most do better on the ACT, I did better on the SAT. So I figured that I would spend my time putting all my energy into one test, compared to half on two separate tests. I've taken the SAT twice now. The first time I did average [I consider it bad] but I didn't study one bit, and I just needed a score to get into a program for school. I studied somewhat the second time, and did a little better [Still not good enough] but I didn't have a good studying experience. The book I got kept saying "unless you want to score higher than a 1600, do this..." Um...Hello? I need WAY better than a 1600. So I found a better book online that I'm going to use [Kaplan SAT 2400, 2008 Edition: Advanced Prep for Advanced Students. Anyone ever use this one?] But back to my main question. Should I even bother with the ACT? The colleges I'm interested in require either/or. I don't want to waste time studying for the ACT if it won't give me an advantage. Thank you.

I put most of my efforts into the SAT originally and only came up with a 2010. Since I live in Illinois, where you are required to take the ACT as part of the state testing, I did the review stuff we did in class and got a 34. Some people do better on one test and not the other; it wouldn't take too much work to see if you like the ACT or not.

take both. send both. let the college choose which one they like better.
