Hello,
I am transferring to UB at Spring 2013 semester. And I just paid my deposit for in-campus housing. So I was wondering which dorm should I choose so it would be most convenient or nearest to my place of study? I am studying as a Chemical Engineering student.

You would want to live on north campus, so either ellicott, governors or greiner.

Is grenier worth it? I’ve only toured Elliot

Greiner is sophomore-only.

Greiner isn’t worth the extra money IMO. Governors is the closet to the academic buildings. If your’e not all snooty and obsessed with everything being brand new you’ll be fine at governors and have a minimal walk to class.

The advantage of Grenier Hall (for sophomores only) is the suite style bathrooms as opposed to the corridor bathrooms in the other dorms. If that’s important to you then Grenier is a good choice. If you’re more concerned with how close you are to the academic spine, then Governors is a good choice. You mentioned you were a transfer but not what year - if you’re transferring with 60 credits or more you’re eligible for some of the on-campus apartments. Flint Village is pretty close to the academic spine.

The Governors Complex would be ideal for you. Plus, if you’re an Engineering major then you should be in a more focused&serious environment (Governors houses a ton of honor students and such).

There is a cluster of buildings that house most of the Engineering classes&facilities(the buildings around Furnas Hall).

Even though the Elicott Complex and Governor Complex are about equally as far from these specific buildings, if you choose Ellicott then you WILL be placed in the FURTHER quads of the Ellicott complex since you are a Freshman, so you would have a much longer walk (compared to living in Governor).
