Choosing between Hong Kong University of Science and Technology’s, University of New South Wales’, and Jacobs University Bremen’s undergraduate programs. Please give me comments, advice, or analysis. THANK YOU!!!
More information is needed: what are YOUR interests? What kind of FA do you need or hope for?
I am interested in engineering and computer science. I don’t need FA in these colleges. THANKS A LOT!
@JenJenJenJen Sorry for the hasty reply. I am a Taiwanese student and I like to be in an interesting and dynamic student body. I am accepted by all of these colleges. I enjoy reading, swimming, and learning new things. University of New South Wales interests me because it has a predominant English-native student body, but it seems to be less prestigious in engineering compared to HKUST. HKUST is the school with the highest engineering ranking, but it has too many Chinese speakers( bad for me who want to step out of my comfort zone). Jacobs University is the least famous one, but it has a solid computer science program. Btw, I haven’t decided what exactly I want to study yet, so I may change my major in college.
I would go to Australia, but that’s because there are kangaroos and koalas and beaches. Kidding, but you could try looking at The Times THE world university rankings. Maybe it will help you narrow down your choices. Good luck to you!
I’ve spent some time in Hong Kong, but not Taiwan. Are you comfortable in that urban environment? (when you leave the peninsula/go off campus) I would think most of the students there won’t be from mainland but if that’s the case, there could be a significant culture clash as well.
@JenJenJenJen Yep, you’re right. Students here seldom meet mainland students, and making friends to these mainland Chinese can also be a challenge. What about practicing English? HKUST teaches in English but the school’s prevalent language is Cantonese.
@Lindagaf I’ve crossed Jacobs out. I realize Jacobs is not in the same level of the other two. What about between HKUST and UNSW?
I’m a UNSW engineering student and our CSE school is quite prestigious. The community here is multicultural, dominated by Asians but english speaking. The student life is really good as well.
