I went to see the National Tour of ACL last night in Rochester , NY and was so excited to see a UArts grad playing the role of Mark (David Grindrod). He was great!! Gives me high hopes for my son :). Does anyone know when he graduated?

I could be wrong, but I think he is either a very recent grad or took a leave of absence. I recall a conversation about this but can’t remember any of the details!

Had it a bit wrong. He was a freshman MT major during the 2009-2010 school year, auditioned and got the role shortly after the year ended. Took a leave of absence.

My son David Grindrod is having a great time on tour. You are correct he was offered the role after his freshman year- so he took a leave of absence from school. He misses his UArts friends but is loving a chorus line. Working for Baayork Lee has been incredible.

What an incredibly exciting opportunity for him! Congrats to him and you.

Mamag63- I had the pleasure of meeting David a few weekends ago when
ACL was in Scranton. He is a very talented and very nice young man. My son and another U Arts friend drove up from school to see David and the production. They had fun catching up with him after the show. We were all very impressed.

He was delighted to get to see his UArts buddies in Scranton. It was great that they came to see him.
